Fabricating & Assembly

Voss's fabricating and assembly capabilities enable us to furnish you with components that have been stamped, bulge formed, welded, riveted and more—all to your specifications and performed in-house under our control.

Over 300 different production and process machines allow us to perform a wide variety of operations with unmatched attention to detail throughout the production process for prototypes, short or long production runs.

Voss's fabricating and assembly expertise is ideal for manufacturing superalloy components.

Riveting:

This capability was established in response to customer requirements for mechanical joining by means other than spotwelding. It is supported by in-house tooling produced to provide repetitive and precise hole size and location requirements needed to produce a high quality riveted joint.

Capabilities:

Compression and orbital riveting techniques are used to join stainless steel or lightweight metals (such as aluminum or titanium) to customer requirements. A286 CRES or nickel alloy 718 rivets are used where high shear loads and vibration exist.

Voss has also developed a "dimpling" technique for some applications which further enhances the strength of the riveted joint while maintaining a larger cross section area.

Many of Voss's sheet metal capabilities were employed to fabricate this aircraft oxygen bottle cradle:
  • blanking
  • forming
  • riveting
  • painting
  • cold heading
  • thread rolling
  • assembly
  • This torpedo high pressure reservoir was made using several of Voss' sheet metal and machining processes:
  • bulge forming
  • CNC machining
  • stamping
  • automatic seam welding
  • GTAW welding.
